Owl

I was so excited to see the owl I've been trying to catch on top of the neighbor's mailbox. It was dusk, so not the best picture. I'll have to keep trying with low light conditions. I haven't figured out the trick yet. I don't know if uncropped is better http://www.pbase.com/image/36581486

Super capture. Does he sit there all the time? I guess you can't get close enough for flash and a spotlight would scare him. Maybe if you give him a mouse to eat? :)

Great shot.If you don't think it will scare off the owl,you can try using your flash.

Reminds me of Harry Potter !! Isn't it great when you finally capture something that is not always cooperative..

I can't believe you took this. Don't you have a thing about owls?

Wow, what an amazing bird! Very cool. The difficulty, for the most part, with these kind of low light photos is shutter speed. You can try increasing your ISO, but that may introduce additional noise (not necessarily unattractive, in my opinion), but the best solution is to use a tripod. You might not have the time to set up a tripod to capture a shot like this, so if your visitor comes around the neighborhood frequently, you might want to keep your camera on the tripod, and ready to go, around this time every night until you get your chance.
