It was a hot and sunny weekend. 200 pedalers rolled from Brannan Island near Rio Vista, CA, to Sacramento on Saturday, and back on Sunday. Bonnie and Bob Powers of the Valley Spokesmen Bicycle Touring Club and a wonderful hard-working crew organized, arranged, fed and watered, and picked up at least a few of us as we straggled toward mecca - an air conditioned hotel room in Sacto. Oh, yes, and dry-ice frozen Its-Its ice cream sandwiches. Cold V-8 juice. A pool and hot tub with jets to massage those complaining muscles. Heaven. On Sunday, we got an earlier start. I find our state capitol is a lot more attractive in the cool of the early morning. Tall trees are still casting shadows, the river reflects the green, and all feels right on wheels again. Except for a tender bottom and weary quadriceps from 60 miles on the road yesterday. Barbecue for lunch - what a great welcome at the end of the ride. Thank you everyone who helped put this together!
