During the night, the Vavilov navigated through the Hinopen Strait and we find ourselves at Kapp Fanshawe. On the agenda this morning is a zodiac cruise to Alkefjellet - a Guillemot colony. With over 60,000 breeding pairs of Brunnich’s guillemots nesting here, it was quite a sight. The birds nest on the cliff faces of a basalt extrusion, and we bob along up and down the shore.

A "pile" of walrus are spotted out on the island of Torellneset, but unfortunately, the sea is far too choppy for zodiac operations, so we move on. Not too soon after, we do spot another polar bear and cub on the shoreline. The plan is try to complete our circumnavigation during the night - the ice charts show a narrow passageway, and we're going to attempt it.
