 Animation by Erich Mangl | On April 14th the nine stories highrise of the Vijverdal psychiatric hospital was torn down by explosives. Only 75 kg of dynamite was needed.
In the Netherlands this is not a common event, so there were thousands of spectators.
Built in 1972 to the latest insights in patient treatment, the building was regarded revolutionary by the psychiatric world. Unfortunately, only three years later the views on treatments had changed radically and the building became obsolete. |
