California poppies easily self-seed from the long, slender pods they develop. When the seeds are ripe,
the pod pops open and can send seeds flying up to six feet away, and each pod can bear up to 100 seeds.
The seeds have an incredible lifespan and can remain active in fertile soil for up to 8 years. ~ Garden
