American Goldfinch facts: Goldfinch pairs wait to nest until June or July when milkweed, thistle, and other plants have produced their fibrous seeds, which goldfinches incorporate into their nests and also feed to their young. Amazingly, the female goldfinch weaves the nest so tight using spider web silk that it can be filled with water unless she shields their abode with her wings.
