Just Watching the World Go By

You never know what you'll see when you go for a drive on the island, but you have to watch close to see it. We almost missed this fawn and its' sibling laying in the middle of a field of newly cut hay. The doe was out of sight, but I'm sure she was close enough to see her fawns. The other young one was stretched out and nearly asleep. Deer facts: The coat of a young deer, fawn, is reddish in color with white spots. The spots normally disappear in 3-4 months, by winter time, as the winter coat begins to grow. ~ Bright Hub, Environmental Science
