Gorged and ready to sleep, this sea lion is one of many that inundate the waters along the
Vancouver Island coastline during the yearly herring spawn. Sea Lion facts: From December through
April, sea lions converge on the east side of Vancouver Island to feed on herring that are
returning to spawn. This event can produce a wildlife spectacle of epic proportions.
