Someone must have mentioned that the park visitors were feeding peanuts to the squirrels....the peacocks zeroed in on the activity like they hadn't had food in a week! No confrontation took place, the squirrels avoided the birds, the birds took over the visitors and the visitors were happy to feed whoever showed up. Peacock facts: The peacock is the largest member of the pheasant and turkey family. Although commonly called peacocks, this term is property applied only to the male peafowl. Female peacocks are called peahens. This is an Indian Peafowl, also called the Blue Peafowl or Common Peafowl and it is native to India and Sri Lanka. It is the national bird of India. Because of its legendary beauty, it was domesticated more than 2000 years ago, and has since been exported to many other countries. ~ www.birds.suite101.com
