Peanuts were the goal of this squirrel’s afternoon hunt for food and it was successful beyond its
dreams! Visitors to the park had come with bags of shelled peanuts, scattering them under the trees,
and there was a goldmine of food beneath all those leaves. Squirrel facts: A squirrel will break
the shell of a nut with its teeth, then clean the nut by licking it or rubbing on its face before it
is buried. This action applies a scent to the nut which helps the squirrel find it later, even under
a foot of snow. ~ squirrels.org
