Gulls are a common bird in the waters of Vancouver Island and despite their sometimes annoying behaviour they continue to fascinate me. On one hand they can be such a silly bird and on the other they can be utterly elegant....captivating to watch and trying to capture their many moods is an ongoing project. Herring Gull facts: On an average, herring gulls live for about 30 years. However, they have been known to survive for as long as 49 years. Death of adult herring gulls is mostly because of food shortage and predators. The primary predators of herring gulls are seals, owls and falcons. ~ Buzzle.com
