On the Prowl

Hayden Valley, Yellowstone National Park

Coyotes can be found throughout Yellowstone National Park, sometimes they are a bit difficult to see because they don't travel too close to the roads. This coyote was intent on its' search for a meal and it had traveled closeer to the road than usual...great for us because we both were able to get shots. Coyote facts: Coyotes are a member of the dog family. Their scientific name is ``Canis latrans``, it means ``barking dog.`` This name was given by Thomas Say in 1835. He was one of the first white men to hear the late twilight and early morning howling of this wolf like creature.
