Wood Duck

Ridgefield NWR, Ridgefield, Wa

We're not too sure if this is an immature, a female, or a non-breeding male wood-duck, but we are pretty sure it's a wood duck. We saw two of them perched on a log laying across a slow moving stream. Wood Duck facts: A typical adult Wood Duck is about 19 inches in length with an average wingspan of 29 inches. This is about three-quarters of the length of an adult Mallard.

Indeed, it is an immature woody! Nice capture, he's got his eye on you. HME :)
