Recycling

Cowichan Bay, Vancouver Island

These are sections from the former Hood Canal Bridge in the Puget Sound area of Washington state. Entrepreneurs purchased these massive pieces and had them towed to Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island. (Many locals refer to them as 'The Bridge to Nowhere'.) General knowledge says that the pieces are due to be remanufactured, with top levels of the pieces removed and the bottom sections cut into pieces and sold off as potential floats for various float camps along the BC coastline.

It's a wonderful and strong construction. Good to know it will find a new place and will be restored.

The structure of the bridge is beautiful. Seems like a complicated operation.

This is very well done. I like allthe lines of the span from that bridge that's being replaced.
