St. Andrew's Anglican Church - 1906

Cowichan Station, BC

Excerpt from "St. Andrew’s - A History" by Jenny Balme: "The Mearns brothers were commissioned to build the church, and were supplied with a drawing. They had a good sense of design and had built houses in the area. Volunteer labour was used. The little wooden church was set on blocks with the barest of crawl space beneath. The Rural Dean called it ‘a pretty, neat, ecclesiastical building that would seat about 60 people.’ The Koksilah Quarry Company gave the block of stone from which the font is carved, and the crews of the E&N railcars gave a locomotive bell to call the faithful to church. Heating in the church was provided by a central wood stove. As the services were held at 3 p.m. little lighting was required." - http://cowichanstationchurch.ca/history.html

What a wonderful church! Lovely textures and looks so nice and I'm betting that one would feel God here. Has that homey feel. Excellent shot!
