One of my favourite shots, this image received an Honourable Mention in the 25th Annual 2009 North Shore Challenge Competition for photographers in British Columbia and the Yukon. The images' name came from the fact that the eagle has always been considered a royal bird, and was a favourite with the poets. They called him 'king of the air' and made him bear the thunderbolts of Jove.
