The cows in Yellowstone usually have their calves in late May or June so that the summer months give them plenty of time to prepare for the cold winter months. Because of the hard winter of 2007-2008 the cows dropped their calves a little late. We saw a lot of younger animals, elk, bison and deer during our Sept 2008 trip to Yellowstone National Park.
