These are photos from a mid-April visit to Mauna Kea on Hawaii's Big Island. Mauna Kea is the highest point in Hawaii at 13,796 feet in elevation and is also the tallest mountain in the world if measured from the sea floor checking in at 33,476 feet above the ocean bottom so about a km higher than Everest. Unfortunately we were unable to hit the summit which is a story for another time but here are some photos of what we did see:
