I was able to get in one brief hike while in Arizona in late December 2004, a trip up to the popular Fremont Saddle in the Superstitions. It was sunny out, perhaps too sunny for me and my camera. I tried some different variations and combinations with my UV, ND, and the circular polarizer, since I don't get a lot of bright sunny conditions to work with in Washington. I learned a little bit but a few of these came out over filtered and have some ridiculously dark blue skies. Still, the desert terrain is different from Central Washington type steppe desert and the vegetation seen below is of the classical variety that you think of when thinking of a desert with saguaros and prickly pears and such. All in all it was a nice little hike. The photos:
