By popular request: Wide, bright – and black

09/15/2014 • Alongside professional image quality, owners of Olympus OM-D and PEN system cameras cite iconic design as a priority when choosing their photographic equipment, and that includes lenses.Olympus now offers one of its most popular and versatile Micro Four Thirds lenses in black: the wide-angle M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm 1:2.0. For fans of classic all-black, its sleek, finely textured casing is a joy to hold – and behold. This compact lens is packed with optical innovations that deliver precision and performance in a broad range of shooting situations, including low light.

Wide and compact

The compact design of the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm* 1:2.0 makes it easy to travel light, and a proven track record of outstanding images in a variety of situations is testament to its optical versatility. With a wide angle of 12mm* and a bright maximum aperture of 1:2.0, it’s ideal for shooting everything from sweeping landscapes to cramped interiors in poor light.

Consistent and clear

Like the alternative silver version of the lens, the new black variant features some of Olympus’ most sophisticated optical technologies. For example, a Dual Super Aspherical lens element and the ZERO lens coating (ZUIKO Extra low Reflection Optical) that reduces unwanted reflections. Sharp, crystal-clear images are the result – from corner to corner, with movies or stills, inside or outdoors, no matter the light.

Fast and bright

When there’s no space – or time – to set up a flash or a tripod, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm* 1:2.0 really comes into its own. It has a fast autofocus that is near silent (thanks to Olympus MSC technology), and a special snapshot mechanism that lets you release the shutter without taking your eye off your subject, simply by pulling back the focus ring. Distance and depth indicators ensure there’s no need to glance down at the screen.

It is available from late September, 2014, for €799.

Product specifications are subject to change without notice. Please check the Olympus website at http://www.olympus-europa.com for the latest specifications.
