Iguacu stands for 'big water' in the native language of that region. Already when I was a small boy I knew about these amazing, world famous, waterfalls and wished to see them... now the wish became true. Walking the waterfall trail in the park is like walking along a climax of ever more impressive views of the falls, and an ever increasing drizzle, culminating in the view from a rain-swept metal construction just in front of the 'devil's gorge' - the first and allegedly most impressive of all steps. Although the natural phenomenon of the falls is truly an eyecatcher, it pays off to watch out for colorful birds and, especially when keeping the backpack on the floor, for the koatis who will certainly inspect everything they find with their long nose in order to search for food. Last but not least, despite (or even because?) the constant drizzle of water the variety of butterflies along the trail is quite unusual and some of them are very tame.
