Meijendel is an area of 2000 of sand dunes between The Hague, Wassenaar and Katwijk. Above 1 million visitors
a year come and enjoy the quietness and beauty of those grounds. It is believed that Van Gogh lived here in 1882-1883.
The name comes from the Meijendel valley where many hawthorns used to grow. There is a visitor centre, which has
information about the vegetation as well as the water collection process that is taking place in this area. The visitor
centre is not the only building on the land, there are also stables and a restaurant, which together form the Meijendel farm.
