Disappearing moons

On the night of Sept. 2-3 2009 all four of Jupiter's Galilean moons disappeared from view: going behind, in front of or being eclipsed by Jupiter. These images were taken with a Nikon D300 and a 10-inch Newtonian reflector. Each image is a single frame, so variations in atmospheric steadiness will show wide variations in sharpness and contrast. Each frame was taken at 1/15 of a second at ISO 400. These frames were culled from a total of 270, taken at 30 second intervals over a time frame of 135 minutes.
