Rosette

One of my first tries for this extended, low surface brightness object. Have to improve my polar alignment and guiding. Look for a better image during the 2004 observing season. Update - as of 20 Feb 05, worst observing season I've seen in 13 years of living in Pensacola. No chance for another shot of the Rosette. Update 11 Feb 06 - still haven't been able to try this again. I'll be physically incapacitated for a month, probably have some of the clearest weather ever seen in this area during that time, analogous to 'New Scope Syndrome', for those of you who know what I'm talking about. Update 25 Dec 07.....hmmmmmm, still hoping for a good shot at this one. Still using the C9.25 but imaging with a Canon 40D and autoguiding. What I need is that rare combo of a good night followed by a day I don't have to get up for work! One more thing, re: 11 Feb 06 update....we did indeed have some nice weather while I was recovering from (successful) prostate cancer surgery. Missed the imaging but that was a secondary concern at the time......

Update January 8, 2010. Finally! A halfway decent image. see the new one at http://www.pbase.com/emagowan/image/120918374

Update March 13, 2016. My current favorite version, quite a difference http://www.pbase.com/emagowan/image/162772460
