Here we have the image we want to prettify opened in GIMP. You can click on the square at upper
right on the image palette to embiggen the image to full screen if you like. On the left is the
"Toolbox" panel, on the right the dockable dialog panel. On the image, you can click on the
"Windows, Dockable Dialogs" tab to open this panel if it's not already open. Along the top of the
image are various menu tabs, clicking on any of them opens an assortment of submenus. We will be
using the "Rectangle select" icon in the upper left corner of the "Toolbox". We'll also be using
the "Layers" tab on the "Layers, Channels.... etc." panel.
