Soldiers Point on Stunning Port Stephens!

Port Stephens was discovered by Captain Cook in May 1770, and was named after Sir Phillip Stephens, Secretary of the Admiralty. Soldiers Point lies on a peninsula that juts out from the southern shores of Port Stephens and separates the eastern third of the port from the western port. once stationed there. Formerly called Friendship Point it is believed to be named after the Corporal's Guard which was stationed there, and was originally the site of a garrison of soldiers that was established in 1820 to hunt down escaped convicts.
We spent a week here @ Soldiers Point. The weather was very unpredictable but it was winter, and we were fortunate to get a few sunny days. The thing that fascinates me with the changing weather are the colours of the sky and water... pictures take on an ever-changing and unique appearance. Overall our unit was very comfortable and snug and we were well-rested for our stay!
