I was never interested in sewing or needlework until I was retired. I became interested in quilting when I saw a Farmyard Quilt in a shop window when I was shopping with my 6 year old granddaughter. "You could make that Nannie". I enrolled in a 6 week class, took my sewing machine along and had fun making the quilt. It was later when I walked into a quilting fabric shop, and saw framed needlework on display, that I fell in love with stumpwork... 3 dimensional embroidery. I joined a class and learned stumpwork. My first piece was a strawberry plant with a bumblebee, a very challenging choice to begin with! That was about 8 years ago and my passion for stumpwork has not abated. It is a fascinating skill, embroidering all the components that will eventually come together to bring the completed piece to life!
