Here I am holding one of the bulbs that replaced the kerosene light in the lighthouse.
They are 1000W 120 Volt tungsten halogen bulbs and are visible as far as 26 nautical miles or 40 kilometres. The lighthouse was automated in 1995.
I jokingly made the comment, "We could probably write a song and call it, Beyond the Blue Horizon". The chap who took this photo, hurried next door and returned with the 78rpm record in the following picture!
