This isn't a gallery full of razzamatazz festivities, with lots of frills and colour. This year I drove into Newcastle Harbour about 6.30 am. It was a very foggy morning and I thought I'd take advantage of it. All the colours and details were very much muted and as it turned out I was pretty happy with the images I got. I parked at The Brewery and walked around the foreshore to Horseshoe Beach.
It is the only beach in Newcastle where people can take their dogs to run and swim off the leash, though some folk still take the precaution of using a lead. I stayed until the sun started to break through and returned home before the people traffic built up. Later in the day we went to an Australia Day barbeque. As it was by then about 36 degrees celcius, we were grateful for the pool to help us all cool off. I can honestly say that Ellie the chocolate brown labrador had the best time! She ran and swam all the time there was anyone to take notice of her. I bet she slept for hours after we'd all gone home.
