The sun is setting on another harvest day. From a loess hills viewpoint in Waubonsie State Park one can see plenty of dust in the air. Some from the gravel roads but mostly from the harvest. The sun is just catching the top of the trees as it crosses the valley and lights up the hill on the other side. Zooming in on the image there is a group of birds flying south, some dust clouds, a nice pasture in the valley and a couple of farm sites. Autumn is a beautiful time of year and if you are a farmer it is a busy time of year.

There is nothing more beautiful than a sunset with clouds. While color always adds some punch to a scene sometimes it is the intensity of the light that can make things pop even if it is just black and white. This shot of Waubonsie State Park at sunset just seemed to indicate a black and white process.

A lot of things to do at Mahoney State Park in Nebraska. One of the things is to look at all the trees and the size of some of them. This one stood out on my drive around the park as it appears to be a tough tree that has seen a lot in its time. I hope it has many years to come.

Heading home on the Iowa highway and the sun is going down when I see this silo in the sun set. Had to get a photo of it so I pulled off the road and got the camera out.

Another Midwest Christmas day comes to a close. Family, friends and relatives have been visited, gifts exchanges, hugs had and a meal or two eaten. On the drive home the clouds begin to clear allowing for a brilliant sunset.

A little unusual for December in Omaha, NE. A nice warm day and everyone was taking advantage of. This guy had the whole lake to himself. He paddled up and down the lake, and I just watched the sun go down.

One of our coldest days so far this winter and a clear sky gave me an opportunity to chase a sunset. A very bright sunset lead to color busting all the way through the photo to the corner. It would have been a great evening to stand around and watch the night arrive if it hadn't been 1 degree.
