_DSC7100.jpg In the winter time the temperature drops. In order to survive the dark days and cold weather it is important to secure shelter. It doesn't have to be a large shelter just something one can get in and out of and small enough to retain the body heat. It could even be a bird house with a little modifications.

DSC03896.jpg It is always nice to have a pantry full food! It doesn't matter how it got there, only that it got there.
DSC03858.jpg Me? I not doing anything! Just climbing a pole. Food, what food? I can watch these guys for hours!

_DSC8204.jpg It is always fun for me to watch the squirrels at the feeders. I find it amazing that as much as they eat they are not a fat little ball of fluff. Here this Black Squirrel climbed up a tree to check out the feeding area. He watched for a while and then joined the 5 red squirrels and the other black squirrel.

_DSC7776.jpg Nebraska is getting more and more Black Squirrels as they make their way across the river. As with all squirrels they are fun to watch. This guy is making his way through the grass looking for sun flower seeds.

DSC09199.jpg Starting to see this guy more often this year than in the past years. He seems to know he was being photographed.
DSC08192.jpg This is a good sign as they hibernation in September and emerge between late March and early May. They come out of their burrow when the sun is high and the earth is warm. It is spring time!
DSC00234.jpg I don't know why I take so many pictures of squirrels except that I spend so much time watching them. This guy was up close.
DSC01159.jpg Some days are harder than others but you just have to hang in there.
DSC01079.jpg Watching this guy trying to get the seeds out of the wire mesh is fun. They work real hard at it.
DSC01023.jpg Always on the lookout for enemies, this guy is looking hard for me.

DSC00929.jpg The things these animals can do to get at some food. This time he didn't make it up the pole.
