While enjoying the fine spring day I saw movement out of the corner of my eye across the pond. It was a mink running along the waters edge. As he ran along he kept getting farther away from me causing a stretch for the lens.

It is getting close to spring and the mink is out for a swim.

Saw a family of Wood Ducks swimming in the duck weed. As I was zooming in on the family I noticed the Mink was on the log in front of the family. It is always fun to see a mix of wildlife together. The green covering the water is Duck Weed, water lens or bayroot, has multiple names, is a good sign of a healthy wetland. Duck week provides not only water purification but protein for the wildlife.

Took a couple of hours today to visit to visit my favorite wetland. It is spring and a lot of activity should be going on. All of a sudden something flushed out several male Wood Ducks so I started trying to capture a photo as these guys are so colorful. After a couple shots, I caught a mink running along the bank and I managed to get a shot of him running along the bank. As I was looking at the photos of the Wood Ducks I saw that I had capture the mink at the bank and it was what had flushed out the Wood Ducks. So instead of 3 photos of the mink running along the bank, I ended up with additional photos showing both the mink and Wood Ducks. Some days are just better than others.

On my way back to the car from taking photos of Canada Geese when this little guy ran out from under a little boarded bridge I was crossing. He really surprised me by letting me get a few shots of him before he took off. He really gave me an photo op as he ran around for a few minutes.

It has been a while since I had seen the mink out and about. But today was a lucky day. He was running along the far bank of the pond.
