GBH In Flight A great blue heron soars elegantly against a clear sky, displaying its wide wingspan and the detailed texture of its feathers. It is captured mid-flight, focused and seemingly alone in the vast expanse of the blue backdrop.

GBH Hotel Spring is close and the Great Blue Herons in the area are picking their nest and doing some repair work on their nest. Their are plenty of nest available so looking forward to seeing more arrive as the days go by.

![]() Damn Kids It appears there are issues with the damn kids! Not sure what the issue is, but it does appears there is a difference of opinion. Back in my day when I was still in the nest I more than likely lost the argument.

![]() Pumpkin Pie Come the holidays there are always food, family and friends. Among the food there is always at least one pumpkin pie, even the local animals get in on it!

![]() Great Blue Heron Waiting Hoping the Great Blue Heron waiting for hatching will be over before the leaves reach full size so I can see the little ones being fed by the parents. It has been fun to hear them and to see the interactions between the different nest. Just hope to catch a few photos of the little ones.

![]() _DSC9977 as Smart Object-1.jpg This one got into a fight with his neighbor who flew into his nest. They make a lot of noise! It doesn't look like there are any hatchlings. Hope to get a photo of them before the leaves come out and cover them up.

![]() _DSC9844 as Smart Object-1.jpg A Great Blue Heron rookery always gives you a great viewing opportunity. It is a little hard to get a good photo with all the branches in between me and the Herons but I can't get to the other side. Can't wait for the hatching as there will be a lot of activity in these trees.

![]() _DSC9850.jpg Mom and Dad Great Blue Heron are keeping a close watch on their home. Hoping I can get a look at the little ones when they hatch and before the leaves get to big. It was great to see this rookery were 3 or 4 nest pairs of the Great Blue Herons.

![]() _DSC9483.jpg One cooperating Bald Eagle just let me shoot away. I guess it was to cold to fly away.
|
![]() _DSC9485.jpg This guy just sat there letting me take photos from all angles and with different lens. I am assuming he was as cold as I was from the way he was all puffed up. Being cold doesn't stop me from catching a photo since they come back to the Midwest in good numbers.

![]() _DSC9463.jpg I spotted this guy was I was driving the back roads of southwest Iowa. The one thing about photographing a Bald Eagle over a hawk is if I stop the hawks usually take flight and the eagles don't. Here this Bald Eagle was watching me as I approached. Then he just sat there and watched. I changed lens, drive to the other side of him, never moved.

![]() DSC00498.jpg Found this guy somewhere near Lake Zurich, Il. I was visiting my brother for my nephew's wedding and we went picture taking. |
![]() DSC00500.jpg Just another picture of the same fellow. Have to sneak up on these guys. |
![]() _DSC7903.jpg Exploring a new area and these bird nests were pointed out to me. No idea what type of bird makes these nest. I will have to come back in the spring to see them. |
