![]() End Of The Day It is the end of the day and the streets are filling up with workers heading home. The fishermen on the lake are packing in their equipment to head home and prepare their catch for dinner. I always find it amazing how quick a lake will freeze over enough for people to head out on the ice and start cutting holes in it.

![]() DSC09019.jpg Just one of those winter days where there is the right amount of warm and cold air to create a dense fog around the lake.

![]() DSC09029.jpg The Lake Zorinsky pier on a cold foggy winters day. The lake is frozen over but the ice isn't thick enough yet to support fishing. It always seems to me as if nature goes quiet on the foggy days.

![]() _DSC8156.jpg In the wild when you grab a bite everyone else wants it also. So a food fight ensures. Not sure if the fish was to heave for the gull or it decided it wasn't worth the fight to keep it. At any rate it got dropped.

![]() _DSC8135.jpg It takes a lot of energy to make a fall migration and here at Ed Zorinsky Lake is a favorite refueling stop for the for their flight. On this cold cloudy fall day the lake and sky is just covered with birds looking for a meal or resting.

![]() _DSC8162.jpg Look close at the bill of the pelican and you can see he has manage to catch a snack. Meanwhile there are lots of Ring-billed Gulls flying around looking for a snack themselves.
|
![]() _DSC8149.jpg Sometimes it is hard to keep a meal to yourself when it is especially good or not enough to go around. The lead Ring-billed Gull has a mouth full of fish and everybody wants it. There was a pretty good fight before it was over and I am not sure which one ended up with it.
