Kregel Windmill Factory

Located in Nebraska City, NE is the Kregel Windmill Factory now open as a museum. Taking a tour will give you a look into 1939 small midwest town manufacturing.
There is so much history to see here. One could spend looking at all the machinery and tools.

The books on top contain the company's records over the years. They give great insight into the times.

From the outside you wouldn't expect the volume of history housed in this building - wall to wall, floor to ceiling. Just as it was in it's prime.

A lot of hard work in this shop produced a lot of experience for an individual. Definitely, no comforts.

You can't put up a windmill without block and tackles to hoist up the different sections. It appears to be plenty of assistance hanging on the wall.

Block and tackles aren't much good without a lot of rope. Windmills weren't short so there is a lot of rope hanging on the walls. Notice in the upper right corner a seat or platform to work from up in the air.

There isn't hardly any space (floor, wall, ceiling) not used or designated for use. A lot of quality work was done here.

A view of half of the factory looking from the back to the front. This is a great place to visit and imagine how our grandfathers might have spent their day.

No amount of work can be done without the follow-up paper. A close look you will see a telephone, typewriter, mimeograph and files going back to the beginning of their history. The letter in the typewriter is only half finished.

All the equipment is ran off a single power source. It is a great place to see all sizes of pulleys needed to run a manufacturing shop.

If you ever wanted to step back in time, Kregel Windmill Factory Museum is the place to do it. It appears that everyone has just stepped out for lunch.
