Little Yellow This butterfly is known by names other than Little Yellow. Other names are Little Sulphur and Little Sulfur. I think from what I see I would like to see it larger in form. Their area is Central America and the southern part of North America. I am guessing Omaha, NE is in the southern part of North America.

Monarch Butterfly Before Migration It is September and soon the migration south will begin. Here is a Monarch Butterfly before migration filling up on the energy needed for the long trip. They never stay put for long and like to fold their wings but once in awhile you can catch them with their wings open.

The Migration Is On A visit to a flower garden showed the migration is on for the Monarch Butterfly. There were several more in the garden then had previous days. This one has been moving south from from as far north as Canada. I understand it takes four generations to migrate from Mexico to Canada and only the fifth generation make the migration from Canada to Mexico. I fail to see how these little guys can make that migration.

Late Season Butterfly Here is a late season butterfly doing what butterflies do, move from plant to plant. A lot of butterflies seen at this time year are showing signs of wear. This little guy is still in his splendid glory as the wings appear to be in excellent shape. He also has some great color.

Monarch Drop In Fall is here and migrations are underway for nature! Migrations are long and take time to reach their destination. The participates on these journeys require energy to complete their goals. Here a Monarch drops in to replenish his energy. All the colors of fall are so brilliant and a small little butterfly and flower are part of the fall experience.

I find it hard to believe it takes five generations to complete the migration. We need to get more milkweed growing so these little guys have the fuel they need for this trip.
