Punta Arenas

Punta Arenas is the capital city of Chile's southernmost region, Magallanes and Antartica Chilena.
The name Punta Arenas was derived from the Spanish term Punta Arenosa, a literal translation of the English name 'Sandy Point'. The city was officially renamed Magallanes in 1927, but in 1938 it was changed back to Punta Arenas. It is the largest city south of the 46th parallel south.

I spent two weeks here on a work assignment in January 2016, and grabbed as much free time as I could to explore the city and its surroundings.
