Sher-Dor Madrasah sideview

In the 17th century the ruler of Samarkand, Yalangtush Bakhodur, ordered the construction of the Sher-Dor and Tillya-Kori. Construction began in 1619 and took 17 years.
The tiger mosaics on the face of each madrassa are interesting, in that they flout the ban in Islam of the depiction of living beings on religious buildings.

Such magnificent architecture, and captured beautifully from this perspective. I think I need to see these places for myself ;-).
