On April 22,2002 I went to a public ice skate at the Fremont Iceoplex (now Sharks Ice). After the ice was resurfaced by the Zamboni, I slipped and fell backwards with my right arm held out to break my fall. My wrist became extremely sore and swollen. I went to Hayward Kaiser emergency room to discover that I had fractured my right distal radius and would need internal fixation. In plain terms I broke my wrist and needed a plate and screws to stabilize the bones.
The Hockey skates I wore when I slipped and fell on the ice.
Sharks Ice at Fremont was formerly the Fremont Iceoplex
Ouch. In a car accident in 1990 I broke a collar bone. 6 months later it was still loose so I had plate and screws put in then. Glad you didn't have to wait that long to get the job done properly.

I broke my wrist a little over 2 weeks ago. Like you, had metal plate and screws put on. Am on cast number 2, which is a relief. The body is truly amazing! It begins to mend from the moment of damage. I note improvements daily. Thanks for your pics and your story.

hi ive done exactly the same thing 4 weeks ago, i am still feeling a lot of pain but they manipulated my wrist 10 days ago so i presume its because of that. how long before cast came off and you were pain free? also when they took cast off to check stitchest etc very painfull do you think this is normal. thanks
