Canon EF-S lens modification

How I modified a Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens to fit on a Canon D30.

I own a Canon EOS D30 and a Canon EOS 20D. I recently purchased the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens and using a Dremel tool I modified the lens so that it will work on my D30 using the same techniques to modify the Canon EF-S 18-55 lens. I was worried at first because if I made a mistake I would have $800 worth of useless glass.

I removed the four screws holding the mount to the lens and placed a piece of plastic sheeting between the mount and the lens and then placing the mount back on with the screws. Using the Dremel tool I cut off the plastic extension on the mount and sanded it smooth. I then removed all four screws and removed the plastic sheeting and blew off any remaining dust and remounted the mount. I then placed it on my D30 and it worked!

I use my D30 everyday taking photos of houses for MLS and there are times when I need a wider angle of view than my EF 17-40mm lens can give.
