Male Franklins Grouse

Banff National Park

Strutting his stuff trying to appear large and menacing in order to protect his family which was closeby. This is one of the Spruce Grouse types found in the Rockies and is also known as the "Fool Hen" as it has no fear of humans.

Wow, impressive is right, what a find! Seeing shows on tv about some of the male birds that really "strut their stuff" for mating is really funny!
