Morecambe Bay and the English North West

Why Morecambe? Well it is situated on the north west coast only a few miles from Heysham (where the ferry to the Isle of Man leaves from) and Lancaster. During its heyday in the Victorian era it was an immensely popular holiday resort but more recently has suffered, economically, as a result of cheap air travel to warmer climes. The Midland Hotel has been recently restored to its former "art deco" glory and once again Morecambe has a real buzz to it. There is much work yet to be done in terms of regeneration but due to its proximity to Heysham (and my ferry to and from the Isle of Man) I shall be a frequent visitor.

A lovely Gallery - I visited Morcambe in the early 80's and it was still on the way down but had all the signs of "Genteel Quality" I'm so glad to hear that it's on the road to recovery.
