Our Munich sightseeing took us for a tour of the Olympic Stadium, then past the Victory Arch and into the heart of the city. We saw the Frauenkirche and visited the Marienplatz with its Rathaus and Glockenspiel - not a big deal. After visiting a colourful food market, we had lunch at McDonalds for the novelty value of being able to order beer,and spent a wonderful afternoon at the Neue Pinakothek, whose holdings amount to about 5,000 works of art from the mid eighteenth to the early twentieth century, with an emphasis on paintings and sculpture of the nineteenth century. About 550 of these works are on display. We had dinner at the Hofbrauhaus, where entertainment and beer abounded!
