Pelican Feeding

See the large fish in his gullet, probably a mullet.
The bird had no problem swallowing the fish. It turned the fish 180 degrees in its pouch, then swallowed it headfirst.

Hi Kyle.
The fish was probably a mullet. The Pelican tossed its head up and down a few times, rearranging the position of the fish. Once it was arranged headfirst, the pelican had no problem swallowing the fish.

Amazing capture! That looks like a big (do you know what kind and can you see it thrashing inside the pouch?) fish caught and staring down it’s captors throat here!

So can the pelican really manage the struggle and gulp that whole thing okay?? Does the fish put up a good fight, if eaten, does the unlucky prey get swallowed wriggling as well?
