Duke Gardens

A tribute to the former Doris Duke Gardens, NJ. These were designed by the late heiress Doris Duke and opened to the public in 1964. They were her legacy to mankind. Apparently the current managers of the Duke estate dont share Doris Duke's vision. In 2008 the gardens were closed to the public. It is my understanding that they will be destroyed. The Doris Duke Gardens were beautiful and short lived, just like the flowers they contained. Visitors who want to see a Duke Gardens need to go to Durham NC, where the Sarah Duke gardens still exist, and are maintained by Duke University.
