An ND8 will do most of the time. If it's very sunny, I use both the ND8 and an ND4.
Plese keep in mind that IR images tend to come out flat-green, so you need to adjust levels in your image editing software, to enhance contrast.

really like your digital ir shots
how many nd filters do you use?
i use a dsc-f717 but get very washed out images in daylight
