Try this: I saw ziplock bags of water tacked to the header of doors in stables when I was horseback riding in the Ozarks. After a few minutes of the proprietor's guessing game, he said it's to repel flies. Folklore has it that flies' mult-faceted eyes see hundreds of these bags hanging on the door and so they won't come in. The plastic glove may serve the same purpose. Question: were there many flies in the restaurant???
