Switch mounted in control panel is fine for manual reversal as in power tapping. But relay has to be used for CNC tapping under M3/M4 code control and it's best mounted in the back panel due to relay's size and needed accessories. White and black wires labeled 1 and 2 connected to terminal block are the same wires shown in the control panel.
