Picking Up New Pet, Butterfly Observatory, La Selva

These guys are known for eating small birds... I guess Vera has no sense of danger at all, however we were told about their bad habits only after she took this guy in her hands...

Vera..how brave! They are such a scary sight...but also beautiful at the same time. Wonderful image.
I see my immediate thoughts about the simple explanation of her valour have already been expressed below.

I agree with everything you said, no wonder Vera had no fear after encounter with this tarantula as her daily life is full of horrific experiences due to association with evil himself, LOL !

Oyyyyyyyyyyyyy......................... could that be Vera's secret incredient in Borscht? Look how that critter makes her hand turn almost beet red.... or is that just the result of using a non-cmos camera for this shot. But one thing is for sure, Since Vera can so deftly handle you, amigo, the epitome of evil itself, handling this small, bird eating playmate, is, for Vera, a proverbial walk in the park. New pet!!! Oh boy, better you than me. I know tarantulas are supposed to be friendly, BUT, not sure I could do this. Great shot with wonderful (ahh!) details.
