The Summer of 2009 marked the beginning of the grist mill's restoration. The mill will be emptied, all the mechanisms dismantled and removed, then the mill building itself will be carefully taken apart. The beams and other materials will be marked to assist in the reassembly. Part of the dam, which has a wooden core, will be excavated and replaced. Stonework on the dam and the foundation of the mill building will be rebuilt. The mill can then be reassembled, restoring it for the next generations to see and learn how grain was milled in the post colonial time.
